DimeStore Blog

Lots of irons in the fire. Shooting two projects this weekend, finishing one of those.

One of projects looks something like this (see above). The other is a new DimeStore Does It.

We know its been awhile but we’ve been working on putting our feature together and having to work our actual jobs quite a bit. Thanks for sticking around, I can’t wait to post the finished films.

Progress:

Our feature film teaser/fundraising video that you saw behind the scenes stills for is progressing nicely.

Picture cut - Done.

Get graphics laid in - laid indeed.

Recording the voice over track this morning with VO artist Bob Ball. You may know him from the opening of The Maximum Fun podcast My brother, my brother, and me.

Pretty neat.

Here are some behind the scenes shots from our teaser shoot we did to gain interest/raise funds for our feature. We’ll be taking our efforts to Kickstarter while the production company working with us will take the more professional producery route and hit up their contacts and search for grants.

It’s in post right now (editing/color correcting, drop in graphics, drop in VO, and finally music) and we’re really happy with how it turned out. Our goal was to think of a unique way to summarize what the film is about and deliver that information while maintaining a unique visual style and illustrate the sense of humor/tone in our writing…mission accomplished.

We can’t wait to show it to you all.

Fun fact: We needed hair as one of our elements in the shoot, Hunter shaved his head. Commitment, that is our middle name. Mostly, we were too embarrassed to go to a hair cuttery and ask for a hair pile. There’s no tactful/non creepy way to do that…and if there is we would have fucked it up…knowing us it’d turn into an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

If we’ve been absent (we have)…

It’s not because we’ve given up, it’s because we’ve been hustling. Yesterday we (along with the production company we’re working with) wrapped on shooting the “trailer”/fundraising teaser for our feature (slated to shoot in Sept/Oct). There’s still post work to be done but we’re really happy with how it turned out and how much Hunter and I were able to pull together on a short budget and even shorter time table given to us. After our initial schedule/plan fell through, we reworked the whole idea in 24 hours, busted our asses to build everything in a week, and be done by this past weekend to knock it out.

We’re looking forward to  posting it when it’s done. In the meantime we’ve got some photos from the shoot coming soon. One involves Hunter with a bag of hair. That sounds like fun huh?

Thanks for following.

The Latest Installment of DimeStore Does It

I swear, we still exist. We are tirelessly combing through garbage bags full of old receipts and napkins with funny ideas scribbled on them. There’s a wall-sized cork board that we sort them on. We work in 18 hour shifts, staring at the board, looking for patterns. I haven’t slept in two days. Christian hasn’t sat down in four. We work by candlelight, saving up for our big plans. I must admit, though, I sometimes forget what those are.  I must admit, too, that in the darkness there are times when I lose faith in our methods. When the sunlight creeps in, it revives me.  It’s autumn, though, and the sun is rising later and later.

The first installment of our new webseries, DimeStore Does It. In this episode we peek into the reading habits of our young hosts.

DimeStore Does It is designed to be an outlet for short gags, ideas, and micro-frivolity that can be generally shot and edited within the matter of a day or two. Summing up, it’s something to keep our hands busy. We’re very excited for this series and hope you enjoy it.
